Therapy for Anxiety and OCD
Therapy for Anxiety
Anxiety is one of the most common reasons why people seek therapy. Anxiety can often lead to a person feeling helpless and disempowered in their ability to face and enjoy many facets of their life. There are some common signs and symptoms of anxiety that you can look out for, including:
Uncontrollable worry
Physical triggers, like a racing heart, trembling, muscle tension, sweating, dizziness, and an upset stomach
Restlessness
Multiple fears or phobias
Difficulty falling or staying asleep
Changes in appetite
Difficulty concentrating
Needing to avoid situations due to fear or discomfort
Panic attacks
Therapy for OCD
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a mental health condition characterized by having persistent, distressing, and intrusive thoughts (obsessions) followed by an urge to perform repetitive, ritualistic behaviors (compulsions) in an attempt to alleviate the anxiety these obsessions provoke.
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is one of the most effective therapeutic approach for treating OCD. Therapy involves intentionally exposing individuals to their fears while helping them refrain from engaging in their typical compulsive behavior that follows. By starting at very low level fears and slowly working up to higher level fears while resisting compulsions, you will be able to see a reduction in anxiety associated with the obsession and have more control over your life.
As a trained ERP and OCD therapist, I will be alongside you as you manage your symptoms and improve the quality of your life.
